Yahoo! News - Ga. Evolution Stickers Ordered Removed
Apparently school officials in Cobb County, Ga. required that books teaching about evolution have the following disclaimer:
This textbook contains material on evolution. Evolution is a theory, not a fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered.
A Georgia judge recently ruled that the disclaimer was uncostitutional since it was seen as a de-facto endorsement for creationism, and ordered the sticker removed from the books.
I would have taken a more Salomonic approach to the judgment and would have required the following disclaimer on all religious texts, including all versions of the Bible:
This book contains religious material. The majority of the information in this book cannot be scientifically proven. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered.
